Hello, I’m Andrew Mason, this is my blog. In December of 2006, I dropped out of the Masters in Public Policy program at the University of Chicago after receiving an funding offer for a website idea I had. This website idea has since been incorporated as The Point, LLC.
The question I most often hear when asking myself questions that I would like to be asked to segue into explaining why I am just now starting a blog is, “Why now, Andrew? Why start a blog now?” Good question. One might think this a hectic time for me, considering my endless responsibilities at The Point. Good observation.
I’ve often considered starting a blog, but that initiative was in permanent stalemate due to internally opposing forces of self-importance (i.e. I consider myself ever-so interesting!) and self-righteousness(I cannot blog by the principle that it is a statistical near-impossibility that I am actually interesting). But in lieu of my recent situation, a blog is simply good business sense — just the out I need.
I understand that writing a blog is a serious responsibility. Like my decision to start growing a body 26 years ago, I begin this blog determined to show it the attention necessary to prevent decay.
Here I shall write about the life side of The Point, as opposed to The Point blog, where I write more about how cool the site is(it won’t be active for awhile). I hope I can provide some insights that will make the startup process easier for future generations.
