I went to Spain last week to see a friend get married to another person who is also a friend, but a friend through the first friend. I didn’t want to go because I have always secretly believed that Spain is the least interesting European city. In preparation for my journey, I made that belief not secret. Everyone told me I was being stupid and I would enjoy it. I agreed — it must be a stupid belief, and I would surely enjoy myself!
Guess what? I hated it. I can’t believe how much I hated it. I told my newly-wedded friend how much I hated it, thinking perhaps he would more deeply appreciate my presence by knowing how little I was enjoying myself. He did not — he told me not to be so negative.
Was this an interesting story? I can’t tell.

Spain is not an European City, it’s a country. You’re very intelligent
